Swissport Belgium and trade unions commit to improve social climate

BTB-ABVV, ACV-CSC-Transcom, ACLVB-CGSLB and the management of Swissport Belgium agree that these past years were characterized by social conflicts taking place on a regular basis.

Both the employer and the trade unions recognize that these social conflicts have given the company a negative image. Since no one is gaining anything from this, the social partners and the management have both expressed their wishes to change the situation.

To turn this negative situation around a thorough analysis into the reasons behind these social conflicts is necessary. Everyone is convinced of the necessity and urgency for everyone to collaborate in an active and constructive way, and to develop a common solution that will be supported by both parties.

The management and the trade unions will launch a process to develop concrete measures that will improve the social climate, which in turn will improve the long-term viability of the company, more specifically in the area of workable work, work life balance and our economic situation.

Unions and management will first analyze the different reasons and root-causes behind the social conflicts. All parties will then agree to an action plan with common solutions, followed by its implementation. It is the objective to complete this entire process no later than March 1st, 2018.

It is in everyone’s interest that we act urgently and create a positive social climate where we take away the displeasures of our employees and at the same time take into account the economic reality our company is facing. Everyone benefits from this: the employees, the company, the airport, the airlines and the passengers.

The trade unions and management emphasize the historical step that is being made today. It is also a very important signal to all stakeholders of the airport community. With this constructive and open atmosphere, both management and trade unions have faith again in the future.
